Weleda Skin Food

8 September 2025

We have been staunch fans of Weleda for many years, now more than ever, when the pursuit of clean beauty is even more challenging. We are always looking to find products that have been formulated without the use of harmful and toxic ingredients such as parabens and synthetic fragrances. Weleda, founded in 1921 in Switzerland, have always been transparent with their ingredient sourcing, and they are a company with a firm focus on the natural and organic, and are also a cruelty-free, vegan brand. In addition, Weleda harnesses green energy, and their natural ingredients are grown using biodynamic methods.

Weleda has the largest medicinal plant gardens in Europe which are home to 1,000 different species of plants, 50 different types of birds and over 30 species of wild bees as well as eight medicinal herb gardens around the world – all managed to strict biodynamic standards to grow ingredients.

Our favourite range from the company is Weleda Skin Food which they first introduced in 1926. The line has since become a cult favourite across the globe with beauty editors and consumers alike. The Skin Food range is comprised of organic rosemary, calendula and chamomile extracts which helps to restore the skin’s protective barrier and soothe dry skin, particularly important as we move into autumn.

This was the first time we have tried the Weleda Skin Food nourishing day and night cream. Both are formulated to intensively nourish dry skin, hydrate and restore radiance. Expertly blending botanical extracts of viola tricolor, organic calendula, organic chamomile with antioxidant-rich organic olive leaf extract for its protective skin-soothing properties, and olive squalane for its natural skin-conditioning, emollient properties, to maintain a healthy skin barrier. We have been using both products for two weeks and are super impressed as it leaves skin intensively nourished and silky-soft. The nourishing cleansing balm is also another winner. It can be used as a regular cleanser, or left on for ten minutes as a face mask before washing off. The cleansing balm is super hydrating and also acts as a potent antioxidant. It contains vitamin E, as well as vitamins A, C, D and K. Cleansers are so important and this one also has an amazing aroma.

The Skin Food body butter is an utter treat! It employs a unique combination of botanical extracts, including  wild pansy, calendula and chamomile to help soothe and comfort dry skin. It also contains organic shea and cocoa butter and like butter, literally melts into the skin. But unlike butter, it’s non-greasy, just intensely nourishing. The all-natural fragrance leaves behind a lovely scent of sweet orange, aromatic lavender and mellow balsamic benzoin.

We love a multipurpose product that we can use on both our face and body. This ultra-light dry oil bi-phase spray combines the lightness of a moisturising mist with nourishing plant oils and extracts of pansy, organic calendula, organic rosemary and organic chamomile. Easy to apply, it’s non-greasy and absorbs quickly, for an instant glow and softer skin.

And if you only decide to invest on one product from the range, then make sure it’s Weleda’s Skin Food. The original champion for dry, rough skin on face, elbows, hands, and feet. With rosemary to boost circulation and sunflower and sweet almond oils for deep nourishment. Beeswax and lanolin lock in softness, offering long-lasting care. Enriched with extracts of viola tricolor, calendula, and chamomile, this rich, thick cream will add moisture wherever your skin needs it. It’s also perfect as a hand cream. It’s no wonder one is sold every six seconds!
