Hotel Le Bellechasse, Paris

Hotel Le Bellecasse ticks three very important boxes for a good stay in Paris: excellent location, blissfully quiet, and all rooms come complete with a bathtub (and a full size one at that).

Just steps from the Musée d’Orsay, and a two minute walk to the RER (perfect for a swift connection to Gare du Nord and the Eurostar), its location couldn’t be better. The hotel has been soundproofed, so no clunking lifts, and no horrendous Paris traffic well into the night. Le Bellechasse is situated in a quite residential area, and unlike many other Parisian four, or indeed, five star hotels I can think of, here, a peaceful nights sleep is always guaranteed. Rooms are compact, but every use of space has been carefully thought out. Yes, the bathtub is located  in the bedroom, but with typically theatrical Christian Lacroix flourishes – along with all other objects in the room – it manages to give aesthetic pleasure as well as being practical.

The view upon waking:

There are three different types of rooms which vary in size: Discovery, Original and Privilege. I stayed in an Original room which came with a queen size bed.

A French buffet breakfast consisting of a variety of cheeses, eggs, ham and bacon, cereals, yoghurt and fresh squeezed orange juice is served daily in the basement, but with the chic and trendy 7th Arrondissment on your doorstep, petit déjeuner options are aplenty.

Upon arrival, every guest is treated to a glass of champagne in the lobby; a nice little touch.

The view from our room: a quiet residential setting.
