The Highgrove Shop - Tetbury, Gloucestershire

The nearest village to our Cotswold country cottage is the lovely seventeenth century market town of Tetbury, famous not only for its plethora of antiques shops, but also due to fact that HRH The Prince of Wales lives just around the corner at Highgrove.

Since Prince Charles opened the first of the Highgrove shops here in March 2008 (the second recently opened in Bath), the increase in visitors to Tetbury has been visibly on the up and none more so than during the last few weeks.

Royal Wedding souvenirs are big business right now (Andy Warhol’s Charles & Diana by Andy Warhol is currently on sale for £2m) with everyone from Sainbury’s to Harvey Nichols jumping on the bandwagon selling keepsakes, some quite fun and creative but most, just plain old corny. Here’s where the Highgrove shop differs.

Not only is it a charming shop to visit due to its exquisite presentation and very friendly staff, but it sells genuinely beautiful and tasteful items too. From kitchen, dining, home accessories, garden/outdoor and organic produce (much of the latter’s ingredients coming directly from the garden at Highgrove), many of the products have been handcrafted and all profits are donated to The Prince’s Charities Foundation.

Forget the tacky tea towels and ‘It Should Have Been Me’ plates and instead visit one of the Highgrove shops in person or online for a little bit of Royal Wedding souvenir sophistication.
